Drinking Chamomile Tea Is Great To Calm Anxiety

In the US, over 40 million adults are affected by anxiety issues each year, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Anxiety can be a normal and common reaction to stressful and fearful situations and not everyone who experiences it has a clinically disorder. The good thing is, there are some herbs that could help people calm their anxiety, like chamomile. Chamomile is the common name for several daisy-like plants of the family Asteraceae that are commonly used to make herb infusions to serve various medicinal purposes.

The herb, chamomile, has been used traditional for thousands of years. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks used the alkaline herb for its mental and physical attributes. Other than to help reduce anxiety, chamomile may also promote sleep, relaxation, calm upset stomachs, soothe minor burns and help with acid reflux.


According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety can appear in a several ways and some of the more common symptoms are sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, irritability, excessive worrying or headaches.
Other anxiety disorders are specific panic attacks, phobias, fears of specific places or things, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ritualistic behaviors and thoughts.

In 2009, University of Pennsylvania scientists published a report in the “Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology,” concluding that chamomile showed to have a calming effect on anxiety symptoms.
